NFL: Washington Redskins-Training CampThe New England Patriots’ cornerbacks might have it easy in their first preseason game of the 2014 season.

The Washington Redskins have ruled out starting wide receiver Pierre Garcon with a hamstring injury, and head coach Jay Gruden said DeSean Jackson is likely to miss the preseason opener after tweaking his ankle in a joint practice with the Patriots on Wednesday, WEEI’s Mike Petraglia reported.

Gruden told the media that Jackson got “cleated” during practice, which twisted his ankle “just a hair.” Gruden also said the Redskins’ starters will be out on the field for the first 8-to-10 plays of the preseason game.

The Patriots signed free-agent cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner this offseason. They’ll face off against Redskins receivers Andre Roberts, Santana Moss and Ryan Grant with Jackson and Garcon out.
