Jets Complete ALS Ice Bucket Challenge With Help Of Fire Truck (Video)

The New York Jets did not take long to respond to their archrivals.

The New England Patriots nominated their AFC East foes for the Ice Bucket Challenge on Tuesday afternoon after participating in the movement — which has raised millions for ALS research in just a few short weeks — themselves. Jets head coach Rex Ryan’s squad did its part the following day, employing a fire truck to assist with the full-team soak.

Jets general manager Jeff Idzik nominated the New York Mets, Yankees and Seattle Seahawks to complete the challenge next, while Ryan sent his nominations to his wife and dogs, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the Jets’ cheerleaders and the Cleveland Browns.

Ryan admitted the Browns nomination was a playful jab at Cleveland head coach Mike Pettine, a former Jets assistant who hinted earlier in the offseason that the New England Patriots might have copies of the Jets’ playbook.

“Yeah, of course I was tweaking Pettine a little bit. All in good spirits,” Ryan said after Wednesday’s practice, via the New York Daily News, “(I’ll) get him back any chance I can get. I haven’t had a chance to punch him in the face yet, so that will be the next (thing).”
