Report: Ex-Patriots Defensive Tackle Tommy Kelly To Visit Cardinals

Tommy Kelly’s next NFL opportunity might come sooner than later.

Kelly, who was released by the New England Patriots on Monday, is set to visit the Arizona Cardinals, AZCentral.com’s Kent Somers reported. Kelly started five games for the Patriots last season before his season ended because of a torn ACL.

Kelly went undrafted out of Mississippi State in 2004 before signing with the Oakland Raiders. Kelly spent nine years with Oakland before signing a two-year contract with the Patriots before last season.

The Cardinals are low on defensive linemen after losing Darnell Dockett for the season because of a torn ACL. Kelly appeared to be playing well for the Patriots before being released. He has scheme versatility after playing in 3-4 and 4-3 alignments during his 10-year career.
