Boston Red Sox fans will finally get the chance to see the team’s star acquisition in action.
Recently acquired outfielder Yoenis Cespedes will start Saturday afternoon’s game against the New York Yankees in left field and bat fourth behind designated hitter David Ortiz.
Cespedes, who the Sox acquired from the Oakland A’s on Thursday for Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes, was not in the lineup for Friday night’s contest due to his late arrival from Oakland.
The other notable newcomer, former St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Allen Craig, will get the day off Saturday after making his Red Sox debut in left field on Friday. Daniel Nava gets the start in right field batting sixth, while Jackie Bradley Jr. returns to the lineup playing center field batting eighth.
Will Middlebrooks is out of the Sox lineup after starting on Friday; taking his place at third base is Brock Holt, who will bat leadoff.
Christian Vazquez will bat ninth and get the start behind the plate for pitcher Allen Webster, who hopes to pick up his second victory of the season after earning the win in his 2014 Red Sox debut against the Tampa Bay Rays.
