Alfonzo Dennard Downgraded To Out For Monday’s Patriots-Chiefs Matchup

Alfonzo Dennard didn’t travel with the New England Patriots despite being listed as probable for Monday night’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dennard was downgraded to out on Sunday night. This is the third straight game the Patriots cornerback will miss with an injured shoulder. Dennard had an interception in his lone start in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.

Second-year pro Logan Ryan is projected to start in Dennard’s place opposite All-Pro Darrelle Revis. Ryan shined in his first start in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings but struggled last week against the Oakland Raiders. Ryan had five interceptions last season as a rookie.

Defensive end Michael Buchanan, linebacker Jamie Collins, guard Dan Connolly, tight end Rob Gronkowski and safety Don Jones also were listed as probable on Saturday. It’s rare for a player to be listed as probable and then be downgraded to out. It’s possible Dennard reaggravated his injury on Sunday.
