USATSI_8063324_168381014_lowresGreg Norman had a close call Saturday after an accident involving a chainsaw.

The Hall of Fame golfer was trimming trees at his Florida home when he mistakenly cut his left hand below the wrist, according to The Associated Press.

“Thank God the blade wasn’t running full speed or it would have taken my hand off,” Norman told the AP. “I handled everything as calmly as I could. There is no major damage. There is nerve damage, but no muscular damage. They fixed me up and here I am.”

It wasn’t Norman’s first time using a chainsaw, as the golfer nicknamed “The Shark” last week posted multiple Instagram photos of himself trimming a tree with one. One photo included a caption that read: “Time to trim the sea grapes today. Never ask someone to do something that you can do yourself. Love to work!”

It appears Norman should consider asking for help next time.
