Fans in Cleveland saw visions of their new Big Three flicker Thursday afternoon.
Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving, who’s currently representing the United States at the FIBA World Cup, went down hard late in the fourth quarter of Team USA’s 95-71 win over Ukraine.
Irving had to be helped off the court and was seenĀ holding his left hipĀ as he walked toward the locker room.
Any serious injury to Irving, who scored 11 points and added six assists and four steals in the win, obviously would be a big blow forĀ the Cavs, who loaded up in the offseason by bringing in LeBron James and Kevin Love.
No update on Irving’s status has been given at this time.
The win, which came after Team USA trailed by as many as seven points in the first quarter, sealed a perfect 5-0 record for the U.S. in group play. The Mike Krzyzewski-led squad will play Mexico in the Round of 16.
