Patriots Sign Casey Walker, Place Sealver Siliga on Short-Term Injured Reserve

FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots added a nose tackle on Saturday after placing Sealver Siliga on injured reserve with a designation to return.

The Patriots signed defensive tackle Casey Walker off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad, the team announced. Walker went undrafted out of Oklahoma in 2013 and spent time with the Carolina Panthers last season.

Siliga injured his foot Sunday against the Oakland Raiders and was placed on short-term IR. The starting defensive tackle is eligible to return to the Patriots on Nov. 23 against the Detroit Lions.

Walker, 6-foot-1, 335 pounds, will serve as depth at nose tackle behind starter Vince Wilfork.

Siliga’s injury could force Wilfork into playing more snaps. Defensive tackle Chris Jones likely will start in Siliga’s absence, and rookie Dominique Easley will see more action.
