Red Sox-Blue Jays Live: Banged-Up Sox Fall 3-1 In Series Finale

As much of New England tunes in to the Patriots’ regular-season opener, the Boston Red Sox will look to complete a series sweep for just the third time since the All-Star break.

The Red Sox, on the heels of consecutive one-run wins over the Toronto Blue Jays, will be without a number of regulars for Sunday’s series finale.

Mike Napoli and Brock Holt continue to experience symptoms from illnesses they came down with earlier in the weekend, and David Ortiz is sitting out, as well — a combination of a previously scheduled off day and a maintenance day to rest his sore right foot.

You can find the full starting lineups here.

Right-hander Rubby De La Rosa will start the game on the mound for Boston opposite Blue Jays knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. De La Rosa’s outing likely will be on the shorter side, as the team has an innings cap in place for the 25-year-old but still would like to use him through the end of the season.

“We would cut back the innings inside a given start,” manager John Farrell said Saturday, “because we want to keep the five-day rotation, or routine, going through the end.”

Sunday’s first pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. NESN.com’s Zack Cox will be tweeting about the action at Fenway, so give him a follow and keep tabs on the action below.
