Red Sox-Orioles Live: Andrew Miller Returns To Fenway As Sox, O’s Open Set

The Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles are two teams trending in different directions.

The Red Sox enter the week in last place in the American League East and on Sunday were mathematically eliminated from contention for the division crown. The Orioles, meanwhile, sit atop the AL East standings and, barring a major collapse, should be able to bypass the one-game wild-card playoff and jump straight into postseason play next month.

This week marks the final time the O’s will visit Fenway Park this season, with Game 1 of the three-game series set for Monday night.

Joe Kelly starts for Boston in the opener opposite Baltimore’s Miguel Gonzalez. Kelly, who finally picked up his first win in a Red Sox uniform last week in New York, still is seeking his first victory at Fenway.

The Red Sox also might catch a glimpse of old friend Andrew Miller, who was dealt from Boston to Baltimore at the trade deadline five-and-a-half weeks ago. The left-handed reliever has pitched well since the trade, allowing two earned runs in 13 2/3 inning over 15 appearances with the O’s.

Monday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. NESN.com’s Zack Cox will be tweeting about the action at Fenway, so give him a follow and keep tabs on the action below.
