Red Sox-Royals Live: Allen Webster Faces Yordano Ventura In Kansas City

Sep 12, 2014

Allen WebsterThe Boston Red Sox’s quest to become spoilers involves three more games against the Kansas City Royals.

The Red Sox, who defeated the Royals 6-3 in Thursday’s series opener at Kauffman Stadium, look to make it two consecutive wins Friday night when Allen Webster goes against Yordano Ventura in a battle of two promising young pitchers.

Ventura already is having success at the major league level, owning a 12-9 record and 3.25 ERA this season. Webster, meanwhile, has struggled, posting a 3-3 record and 6.47 ERA in eight starts in 2014.

Webster, who won three of his first four starts this season after being called up by Boston, is trying to work through some inconsistency while attempting to carve out a role for 2015.

Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Red Sox beat writer Ricky Doyle will be tweeting throughout the game. Follow him on Twitter and check out the updates below.
