Tom Brady: ‘I’ll Be Ready To Go Sunday’ After Calf Injury Scare

Tom Brady made it clear during an interview with Westwood One on Thursday night — barring disaster, he’ll play on Sunday in the New England Patriots’ Week 1 season opener.

“Physically, I had the day off, but I got a lot of extra film in, I got a lot of mental reps in — in walk throughs and such,” Brady told Jim Gray. “I’ll be ready to go Sunday.”

“No problem, you’ll be out there?” Gray asked.

“I sure hope so. Anything can happen to anybody between now and then,” Brady said. “But I’m looking forward to playing on Sunday.”

Brady caused a scare on Thursday when he was absent for practice because of a calf injury. It was Brady’s first missed practice of the season, and it came at an inopportune time as the Patriots prepare for the Miami Dolphins.

Brady, in typical Patriots fashion, wouldn’t specify how the injury occurred.

“That’s very private information that the Patriots would never want to give out,” Brady told Gray.
