Massachusetts schools weren’t lacking in Hockey East recognition, as all of the league’s weekly honorees came out of the Bay State on Monday.
Boston College’s Adam Gilmour snatched up Hockey East Player of the Week after a five-point weekend. The sophomore forward and Hanover, Mass., native registered two assists for the Eagles in their 6-2 win over Colorado College on Friday and added a pair of goals and an assist against UMass on Saturday.
Speaking of UMass, Minutemen goaltender Henry Dill was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week. The freshman netminder notched a whopping 42 saves in a thrilling 3-2 win over Northeastern on Saturday. Dill is 2-1-0 on the season with 97 saves, a .924 save percentage and a 2.68Â goals-against average.
Last but certainly not least, Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors went to Boston University goalie Matt O’Connor. The junior from Toronto earned his first career shutout in a 29-save performance against Michigan State on Friday and added 38 more saves in a 3-2 victory over Michigan the next night. The Terriers are 2-0-0 with O’Connor between the pipes and 3-0-0 on the season.
