BOSTON — After a somewhat sleepy first period Monday afternoon, things began to heat up between the Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche in the second.
Jamie McGinn lit the lamp for the Avalanche to open the scoring, and Bruins winger Loui Eriksson followed with a goal of his own less than four minutes later to tie it up.
Then came the fisticuffs.
B’s defenseman Adam McQuaid and Avs winger Cody McLeod dropped the gloves shortly after the period’s halfway mark, with the former knocking the latter to his knees with a flurry of hard rights.
It was the first fight of the season for McQuaid, though the blueliner did throw down once during the preseason.
