Florida Quarterback Treon Harris Suspended, Accused Of Sexual Assault

Treon HarrisUniversity of Florida quarterback Treon Harris was suspended Monday after being accused of sexually assaulting a female student.

The university announced Monday that campus police department is investigating the allegations and has brought in the Gainesville Police Department to assist in the investigation. The alleged assault happened early Sunday morning.

The school’s University Athletic Association announced that Harris has been suspended “from all team activities.”

“We have no tolerance for sexual assault on our campus,” Florida president Bernie Machen said in a statement. “The university is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for every member of the UF community. We must strive to protect all of our students from sexual harrassment and assault, and do everything in our power to promote a safe learning environment.”

Harris helped lead the Gators to a 10-9 win over the University of Tennessee on Saturday in Knoxville. The freshman completed two passes for 17 yards and rushed for 24 yards on four carries.
