Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron might not receive the recognition that Sidney Crosby and Jonathan Toews do, but he’s one of the most respected players in the NHL for his exceptional two-way play on the ice, especially in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

In a recent video where Sports Illustrated asked NHL stars to name the most underrated player in the league, two of them — Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux and Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban — said Bergeron.

“It’s maybe unfair for me to call him underrated now, because of all the accolades, especially at the NHL awards, and him getting all the awards and so on and so forth,” Subban said. “But I think until this past season, he had been the most underrated, for sure.”

The Bruins center also appeared in the video and selected New York Islanders winger Kyle Okposo as his “most underrated player.” New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh picked Okposo, too.
