Brandon Browner, Brian Tyms Activated By Patriots Off Suspensions
The Patriots activated cornerback Brandon Browner and wide receiver Brian Tyms, a source told NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and the team later confirmed.
The Patriots had until 4 p.m. Monday to activate Browner and Tyms from the suspension list. They waived defensive tackle Joe Vellano, who had six tackles and one sacks in five seasons this season, and placed defensive end Michael Buchanan on season-ending injured reserve to make roster room.
Browner was suspended four games for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. The cornerback failed a drug test last season while playing for the Seattle Seahawks.
Tyms was suspended four games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. The wideout said he failed a drug test for taking Adderall last season with the Cleveland Browns.
Browner and Tyms could have been activated by the Patriots before Sunday’s game, but head coach Bill Belichick said neither player was ready.
