Source: Ex-Patriot Kenbrell Thompkins Claimed Off Waivers By Raiders

The New England Patriots knew the risk they were taking when they waived wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins on Saturday.

Thompkins won’t return to the Patriots — at least not immediately. The second-year pro was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Raiders on Monday, a source told NESN.com. The news was first reported by NFL Media’s Albert Breer.

The Raiders held the second-highest waiver priority in the NFL.

Thompkins has six receptions for 53 yards this season in two games and one start. He started eight games for the Patriots as a rookie last season and recorded 32 catches for 466 yards with four touchdowns in 12 games.

Thompkins’ most notable catch as a Patriot came on a game-winner in the team’s comeback victory over the New Orleans Saints last season. He started the first seven games of the 2013 season for the Patriots.
