That being said, it’s still not a certainty Romo, who is dealing with a back issue, will suit up. There’s been plenty of debate this week over whether the Cowboys should go with backup Brandon Weeden against the Jags to prevent Romo from further injuring himself in a game Dallas should win handily regardless of who’s at the helm.
Former NFL linebacker Brady Poppinga thinks it’s nonsense to immediately brush aside the Jaguars when discussing Romo’s availability. Poppinga wrote on FootballByFootball.com that having Romo under center rather than Weeden would completely change Jacksonville’s defensive approach. The Jags might even squeak out a victory if Weeden starts Sunday.
The Cowboys enter Sunday’s clash with a 6-3 record and need a win to keep pace with the 6-2 Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. Romo should suit up.
