The Boston Celtics need to work on their defense down low, according to a fancy stats chart.
The Celtics have obvious defensive deficiencies, but an analysis by Ed Kupfer shows the team’s most glaring problem. Boston appears to be allowing 5 percent more shots in the paint than the rest of the league.

Also noteworthy is the New York Knicks’ shot selection. With its triangle offense, New York is shooting about 15 percent more shots from 16 feet to 3-point range than the league average. It doesn’t seem to be working, as the Knicks are a putrid 3-9 on the season.
