John Havlicek can rest easy Tuesday night.
The Boston Celtics legend previously held the NBA record for most missed field goals in a single career with 13,417. That is, until Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant bricked a fadeaway jumper against the Memphis Grizzlies for the 13,418th miss of his career, passing Havlicek for the most in NBA history.

Bryant apparently was on a mission to break the record Tuesday night, as he hoisted up 26 shots while only making 10 in a 107-102 loss.
Of course, Kobe’s new dubious distinction is more a reflection on the 16-time All-Star’s longevity and greatness than anything else. He ranks fourth all time in field goal attempts and, perhaps most importantly, is fourth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list behind only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone and Michael Jordan.
And for the record, Abdul-Jabbar, Malone and Jordan aren’t far behind Bryant on the all-time misses list, coming in at fifth, fourth and sixth, respectively.
But still, 13,418 is a LOT of misses.
