FOXBORO, Mass. — Jonas Gray was mysteriously absent from the start of practice one day after the New England Patriots signed fellow running back LeGarrette Blount.
Gray, defensive linemen Chandler Jones (hip) and Dominique Easley (knee) and offensive lineman Cameron Fleming (finger/ankle) were missing from Friday’s session on the Gillette Stadium practice field. The players were wearing shells and sweats in the brisk New England weather.
Gray wasn’t listed on the Patriots’ practice participation and injury report Thursday. He ran for 201 yards on 37 carries with four touchdowns Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
Easley also missed practice Thursday, putting his status for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions in limbo. Jones and Fleming are unlikely to play after missing all three practice sessions this week.
