WALTHAM, Mass. — Rajon Rondo added a bit of red, white and blue to his practice wardrobe Tuesday.

The American flag-themed socks were Rondo’s way of recognizing Veterans Day and honoring America’s troops overseas.
“It means a lot,” the Boston Celtics point guard said. “Especially what those guys did for our country over the years, and what they continue to do for us. It’s definitely a great honor to be here this day. My kids get the day off from school, so I get to spend more time with my kids, but for the most part, it’s honoring the soldiers who died and fought for us. It’s a great day.”
The Celtics — along with the other 29 NBA teams — have been wearing these special T-shirts during warmups as part of the “Hoops for Troops” program, which runs from Nov. 4 to Nov. 11.
