Shawn Thornton will become the latest former Boston Bruin to return to TD Garden.
Earlier this season, defenseman Johnny Boychuk made his first Garden appearance in another uniform with the New York Islanders. On Tuesday night, Thornton will bring the Florida Panthers to Boston for the first time since signing a two-year contract during the offseason.
Thornton’s time in Boston always will be remembered largely for his fights, as he never backed down from a scrap during his seven seasons with the Black and Gold. Despite those pugilistic tendencies, Thornton also flashed offensive skill at times. That was no more evident than when he scored a short-handed penalty-shot goal in 2012.
