Tom Brady: San Diego Trip Gives Patriots ‘Positive’ Time Together

The New England Patriots are getting down to business in San Diego, but Rob Gronkowski and crew proved that they also can have a good time out in California.

Quarterback Tom Brady was too busy sleeping to join Gronk in meeting Justin Bieber, but he’s excited to spend some extra time with his teammates this week while the Patriots stay in San Diego in preparation for Sunday night’s game against the Chargers.

“It’s been good. We’ve had a good couple days. Got off to a good start yesterday,” Brady told the media Thursday. “Still kinda early in the preparation, but now it starts to feel like California weather, as opposed to yesterday. Hopefully we can have a good day of practice, and I think the guys have a lot of time to be together and spend a lot of time we don’t typically get to spend. That’s a positive.”

Brady’s a northern California native, but he has some ties to the University of San Diego, where the Patriots are practicing this week.

“It’s fun. It’s fun. I was born and raised out here,” Brady said about California. “I didn’t really spend too much time in San Diego, but my best friend went to this school, so I had a few visits when I was at Michigan coming down here. It’s always been a fun place to be.”
