resultThe sad spiral for Robert Swift continued Tuesday.

The former Seattle Supersonic and Oklahoma City Thunder center was arrested after allegedly attempting to rob a home in Gold Bar, Wash., according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. Sources told Amy Clancy of KIRO-TV that 29-year-old Swift and one other man put masks on their faces and tried to break into a house in broad daylight. Witnesses saw the two men and called the police.

“I believe there were a couple of people who called in, they saw masked subjects on the property, reported that at least one of them was armed with a weapon, one possibly with a baseball bat,” Shari Ireton, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, told KIRO-TV. “It appeared they were either trying to make an entry or knocking on the door.”

Swift, who admitted in November to being a heroin addict, reportedly admitted to police that he was high on drugs at the time of his arrest. Sources also told Clancy that Swift was “armed with multiple weapons” when he was taken into custody.

Swift, the 12th overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft, hasn’t been able to stay out of trouble since leaving the league. He most recently was arrested in mid-November and charged with a gun crime for possessing an illegal sawed-off shotgun. Police also seized a military-style grenade launcher and drugs during the raid of the Kirkland, Wash., home where he was living.

Swift failed to show up for his Nov. 26 court appearance related to the weapon charge, and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Clancy added the investigation into the robbery is ongoing, and detectives are searching the car Swift and his accomplice were driving the day they were arrested.
