Report: Peyton Manning Played With Torn Right Quad In Final Month Of Season

Peyton Manning admitted Sunday he’s been dealing with a “thigh injury.” That’s a bit of an understatement.

The Denver Broncos quarterback played the final month of the season including Sunday’s divisional-round loss to the Indianapolis Colts with a torn right quadriceps, two sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

According to Schefter, Manning initially suffered the injury Dec. 14 against the San Diego Chargers. Manning had an awkward tumble while going to block in that game and actually left the game shortly before halftime only to return for the second half.

The quad injury might shed at least a little light on why Manning’s play dropped off down the stretch.

Manning on Sunday wasn’t willing to announce a decision on his future. Manning would be 39 years old at the start of the 2015 season.
