Torey Krug: ‘Very Important’ For Bruins To Respond After CEO’s Comments

Sometimes all you need is a little extra push.

The Bruins certainly got that push Tuesday from new CEO Charlie Jacobs, who called Boston’s recent play “unacceptable” and put the entire organization on notice.

Apparently the B’s got the message, as they rattled off wins over the Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils on back-to-back nights. It’s easy to chalk up those wins as coincidence, but during a Friday radio appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub, defenseman Torey Krug said Jacobs’ message came through loud and clear.

“It was very important (to respond to Jacobs’ comments),” Krug said on “Gresh and Zo,” via CBS Boston. “He’s our boss, and we’re always being evaluated. That’s our job — to come to the rink everyday and put the best product on the ice as we possibly can, and it’s up to us to perform.”

Boston’s small surge has placed the team in the final Eastern Conference wild-card spot as of Friday afternoon. For a team that won the President’s Trophy with 117 points last season, though, Krug knows there’s still work to be done.

“We’re definitely not out of the woods yet,” Krug added. “There’s still a lot of work to do. But credit the guys in this locker room. We’re all working hard and trying to come out of this together.”

Krug recorded an assist in Thursday’s win over the Devils and now has five points in his last six games. He’ll look to keep that strong play going when the B’s take on the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
