UConn has fared relatively well in its first season in Hockey East, but Saturday night’s game is one the Huskies would like to forget.

Providence junior Nick Saracino lit the lamp three times as his Friars absolutely bulldozed UConn by a final score of 10-1. Saracino’s hat trick was the first by a PC player since 2012.

As the score would indicate, this one was all Providence from the jump. The Friars led 3-0 after the first period, 8-0 after the second and 9-0 when Evan Richardson scored the Huskies’ lone goal.

Thirteen players tallied at least a point for PC, with Saracino leading the way with four and Ross Mauermann and Noel Acciari each adding a goal and two assists.

Jon Gillies earned the win in net with 24 saves, as Providence outshot UConn 43-25.
