Bets On Idina Menzel’s Super Bowl National Anthem Halted; Insider Info Feared

Super Bowl prop bets become more and more popular each year.

The first bet decided is the length of the national anthem. It’s an over/under kind of prop bet, and assuming the singer practices beforehand, he or she obviously will have a good idea of how long the performance will take.

That might be why some sportsbooks suspended betting on the national anthem before Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday night.

“Frozen” star Idina Menzel sang the national anthem before the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks squared off, and her rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which seemed long at first, was clocked at 2 minutes and 4 seconds.

It will be interesting to see how this decision impacts national anthem prop bets for future Super Bowls. The smart move, from Las Vegas’ point of view, probably is just eliminating it altogether.
