Brek Shea emphatically continued his resurgence with the United States men’s national soccer team Tuesday by scoring a stunning goal against Switzerland.
Shea curled a free kick past goalkeeper Roman Burki on the stroke of halftime, giving Team USA the lead in its exhibition game in Zurich.
Alfredo Morales won the free kick, which Shea dispatched with authority in the 44th minute.

The goal was Shea’s second in four games in 2015 and fourth in 30 games in his international career.
2105 could mark Shea’s renaissance for club and country. He returned to MLS earlier this year after a failed stint in England with Premier League club Stoke City and loan spells with Championship (English second division) sides Barnsley and Birmingham City.
Shea’s showings in the United States’ January training camp earned him Klinsmann’s consideration. His play on the field is winning over new fans and reinvigorating his international career.
