Kentucky Fan Gets ’40-0′ Tattoo Because Sports Fans Never Learn (Photo)

What’s so wrong with waiting, like, three weeks?

That’s the question that must be asked of someone like Rock Wright, an overzealous fan of the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team. You see, Wright feels so confident the Wildcats are going to win the national championship, he got a tattoo commemorating an event that’s yet to happen.

This adult man, who apparently has no problems being photographed wearing sweatpants and a blue wig (hopefully that’s just a wig), got a tattoo of the UK logo with the inscription “40-0” and “National Champs 2015.”

Now this just seems like a miserable idea. There’s a good chance Kentucky does run the table and finishes the first perfect season in almost 40 years. That would be pretty cool, and it would make Wright’s decision look a little better (speaking in relative terms here).

But here’s the thing: There’s also a good chance Kentucky doesn’t win the title. Thursday was one of the craziest days in NCAA Tournament history, and it’s a reminder that anything can happen in March. But again, what’s the rush? This guy can just as easily wait a few weeks to see if Kentucky does win it all and then get his tattoo all while not taking the risk of looking like a big dummy.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

If UK can’t win, though, there are a couple of silver linings. First, go back and look at that tattoo. The parts with the record and the year and all of that? Both of those areas look like they easily could be redone and tattooed over, so it certainly seems like Wright’s giving himself an out. And if Kentucky does fall, there’s also the fact that misery loves company and Wright could give this Detroit Lions fan or this Seattle Seahawks fan a call.

Misery loves company, right?
