The New England Patriots elected not to re-sign cornerback Darrelle Revis on Tuesday night, but they still were active in free agency.
The Patriots agreed to terms to bring back free-agent linebacker Chris White, a source told ESPN’s Mike Reiss. A source confirmed Field Yates of ESPN’s report that the Patriots were hosting linebacker Colin McCarthy on a free-agent visit Tuesday night.
White is a core Patriots special-teamer who played just six defensive snaps in 2014.
McCarthy missed the 2014 season with a shoulder injury, but he was a starting linebacker for the Tennessee Titans from 2011 to 2013. McCarthy could fill the void left by Jonathan Casillas as a reserve linebacker and special-teamer.
The Patriots reportedly also hosted free-agent pass rusher Jabaal Sheard on a visit Tuesday night.
