Matt O’Connor is going to have nightmares about this one for a long time.
Boston University had a one-goal lead over Providence College in the Division I men’s hockey championship game Saturday night at TD Garden. The Terriers appeared to be in control of things when Friars defenseman Tom Parisi dumped a harmless shot toward net.
O’Connor calmly caught the puck in his glove. Then this happened.

It doesn’t get much worse than that.
Unless, of course, you consider that Providence’s Brandon Tanev beat the shell-shocked BU goaltender with a wrist shot just over two minutes later to give the Friars a 4-3 lead with less than 10 minutes to play.

That’s the way the game ended, as Providence held on to pull off the shocking upset.
As for O’Connor, well, someone probably should give him a hug.
