New York Jets fans might want to thank Bill Belichick for giving them a new and improved Darrelle Revis.
The former New England Patriots cornerback said Tuesday he’s a better player after spending a year under Belichick’s tutelage.
“I think I’m better than I was before,” Revis told the New York Daily News. “I’m smarter and way more intelligent at the game. I had a great learning experience last year with Bill. He helped me in a lot of ways in seeing the game in a different way.”
Revis also downplayed his part in the Patriots-Jets rivalry after seeing it from both sides.
“A rivalry is a rivalry,” Revis said. “That’s going to continue long after I’m gone and done playing this game. I think that’s what brings out the competition in sports: the rivalries. … Maybe (there is) hatred and those types of things, because there’s a lot of history between the two teams.”
Revis already has played into the Patriots-Jets rivalry again, when New England filed tampering charges against their AFC East foes over comments made by New York owner Woody Johnson about the cornerback. The Jets were fined $100,000 for Johnson’s remarks.
