Report: Marcus Mariota Not Planning To Attend NFL Draft, Will Be In Hawaii

Roger Goodell could be mighty lonely on stage after the first two picks in the 2015 NFL Draft.

That’s because Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota plans to remain in Hawaii rather than attend the draft in Chicago, ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter reports, citing league sources. Mariota and Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston are widely expected to go Nos. 1 and 2 in this month’s draft; Winston has already reportedly told the league he does not plan to attend.

Mariota, who reportedly prefers to share the moment of being drafted with his family and members of his community, won’t be completely absent from the festivities, though. ESPN and the NFL Network, both of which are televising the draft, have been invited to Hawaii to broadcast Mariota’s draft-day experience, according to Schefter.
