Red Sox To Hold Baseball Equipment Collection During Blue Jays Series

If you’re headed to Fenway Park to watch the Boston Red Sox take on the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend, then make sure you bring your old baseball equipment.

Starting Friday, the Red Sox and Massachusetts-based non-profit organization Kids Gear for Baseball will be collecting new and used baseball and softball equipment as part of a league-wide initiative among Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association, and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund. The collection will run through Sunday, and representatives of Kids Gear for Baseball will be taking equipment donations at the gates.

Fans who donate gloves, bats, balls and other equipment will have the opportunity to win autographed memorabilia and other prizes.

Kids Gear for Baseball has donated equipment to over 30 youth organizations and shelters since 2002, and the program is run entirely by student volunteers. The Baseball Tomorrow Fund also will give a $5,000 grant for Kids Gear for Baseball to purchase new equipment.
