PGA golfer Sergio GarciaMake no mistake about it: Golf is an extremely difficult sport.

Just ask Tiger Woods, who has taken a precipitous fall from grace after spending years as the world’s best golfer. Woods has won an incredible 14 majorsĀ on the PGA Tour, but for so many others, taking home one of golf’s biggest four events — the Masters, the U.S. Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship — hasĀ proved much moreĀ elusive.

For much of his career, Phil Mickelson was one of the most notable golfers without a major to his name, going nearly 15 years without a major title beforeĀ winning the 2004 Masters. Yet there still are plenty of big names on this dubious list, including several golfers in the World Golf Ranking’s Top 10.

Several of those names willĀ hope to remove themselves from thisĀ list when the U.S. Open begins Thursday at Chambers Bay. Until then, let’s take a look at some of the best golfers who have yet to win aĀ big one.
