Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson Among Best Golfers Without Major Victory (Photos)

Make no mistake about it: Golf is an extremely difficult sport.

Just ask Tiger Woods, who has taken a precipitous fall from grace after spending years as the world’s best golfer. Woods has won an incredible 14 majors on the PGA Tour, but for so many others, taking home one of golf’s biggest four events — the Masters, the U.S. Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship — has proved much more elusive.

For much of his career, Phil Mickelson was one of the most notable golfers without a major to his name, going nearly 15 years without a major title before winning the 2004 Masters. Yet there still are plenty of big names on this dubious list, including several golfers in the World Golf Ranking’s Top 10.

Several of those names will hope to remove themselves from this list when the U.S. Open begins Thursday at Chambers Bay. Until then, let’s take a look at some of the best golfers who have yet to win a big one.
