Bob Uecker reminded us again Tuesday why he should be looked at as a national treasure.
The longtime baseball radio and TV announcer was on center stage again Tuesday in Milwaukee where he threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Brewers’ game with the Cleveland Indians.
Fittingly, with the Indians in town and Uecker’s connection to Milwaukee, the Brewers celebrated “Major League” Night, celebrating the famous baseball movie. Uecker, of course, played a prominent role in that flick as Harry Doyle, the opinionated and highly sarcastic play-by-play man for the Tribe.
As part of “Major League” Night, the Brewers gave out talking Harry Doyle bobbleheads. In addition to that and Uecker throwing out the first pitch, the former big leaguer also made an appearance on MLB Network’s “Intentional Talk.” Naturally, it was hilarious.
As for Uecker’s first pitch, it was, of course, just a bit outside.
