Brandon Spikes Found Guilty In Crash, Sentenced To One Year Probation
Brandon Spikes isn’t getting off the hook this time.
The former New England Patriots linebacker appeared in a Wrentham, Mass., court Wednesday and was found guilty on three counts of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in personal injury. He was sentenced to one year of probation, had his licensed revoked for a year and also was slapped with a $1,000 fine.
Spikes’ punishment stems from an incident in early June, when the 27-year-old’s car was found abandoned on I-495 near Foxboro. The Patriots subsequently released Spikes just weeks after signing him to a one-year contract, and a police investigation found he was involved in a hit-and-run after rear-ending an SUV carrying a family of three.
According to police, the crash caused minor injuries to a local man and woman and their 12-year-old son, who all were taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro for treatment.
A verdict wasn’t reached on the other charges brought against Spikes, which included operating a motor vehicle negligently to endanger, speeding and failure to stay within marked lanes.
