Brock Holt Starts At First Vs. Astros In Brian Johnson’s Red Sox Debut

After 10 days of sitting around the Boston Red Sox’s clubhouse, Brian Johnson finally will get his chance to pitch.

Johnson, who was promoted from Triple-A Pawtucket on July 11, is set to make his major league debut Tuesday as the Red Sox open a three-game series against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park.

The 24-year-old left-hander will do his best to right the ship for a Red Sox team that has lost five in a row, including a humiliating four-game sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels in which they were outscored 22-4.

Brock Holt — Boston’s only All-Star this season — started three of those four games on the bench, but he was reinserted into the starting lineup Tuesday in place of first baseman Mike Napoli. Napoli went 3-for-10 with a double, a walk and an RBI in his three games in Anaheim.
