Brock Holt Talks Trade Deadline: ‘Obviously, I Want To Stay Here In Boston’

Brock Holt’s production, versatility and extremely team-friendly contract could make him a target for teams ahead of Friday’s Major League Baseball trade deadline. He hopes not, though.

The Boston Red Sox utility man told the Boston Herald on Tuesday that he has no desire to pack up and move.

“I’m pretty comfortable here,” Holt told the Herald. “I like being here. I’d love to stay here. But obviously that’s part of the game, part of the business and something you have to (deal with).”

Holt, who earned his first All-Star selection this season, has not been the subject of any substantial trade rumors, but the Oakland A’s earlier this week landed a highly rated prospect by dealing fellow utility man Ben Zobrist to the Kansas City Royals.

Zobrist is a more established player than Holt, but the latter has made tremendous strides since joining the Red Sox organization in December 2012.

“I had a tough time my first time over here adjusting to new coaches, new teammates, stuff like that,” he told the Herald. “It’s tough when you’re not in a comfortable environment. It takes a little while to start feeling comfortable around guys. But if it’s something you have to do you, you have to do it. Obviously, I want to stay here in Boston.”

Holt missed Monday’s loss to the Chicago White Sox with a knee injury. He was available off the bench Tuesday but did not see action.
