British Open Tee Times: Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson To Play Together

Jordan Spieth will tee off alongside a familiar face this weekend at the British Open.

Spieth, who is in search of the third leg of golf’s Grand Slam, is scheduled to play beside Dustin Johnson in the first and second rounds at St. Andrews.

Spieth has the opportunity to win the first three majors of the year after besting Johnson at the U.S. Open last month. Johnson was in line to win the U.S. Open after setting himself up with an eagle putt on the final hole, but he went on to three-putt and lose out on a chance to win his first major.

Hideki Matsuyama rounds out the threesome, which is scheduled to go off at 4:33 a.m. ET on Thursday.

Tiger Woods knows how it feels to win the year’s first two majors. Now he is hoping to play the role of spoiler when he tees off with Jason Day and Louis Oosthuizen at 4:55 a.m. While Woods’ struggles of late are well known, he showed flashes of the old Woods at the Greenbrier Classic two weeks ago. He also knows what it takes to win at St. Andrews, as he has won two British Opens there.

Out of the entire list of tee times for the first day of the British Open, here are some other notable groups (all times ET):

3:22 a.m.: Graeme McDowell, Webb Simpson, Oliver Schniederjans (a)
3:33 a.m.: Ernie Els, Tom Watson, Brandt Snedeker
4 a.m.: Ian Poulter, Charl Schwartzel, Bubba Watson
4:11 a.m.: Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood, Patrick Reed
7:50 a.m.: John Daly, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Jason Dufner
9:12 a.m.: Adam Scott, Martin Kaymer, Jimmy Walker
