The Boston Red Sox are looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s tough 5-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox, and they’re trotting out a new-look lineup for the occasion.
David Ortiz and Pablo Sandoval will get the night off for Wednesday’s series finale, and it seems they’re both simply getting a day of rest. Hanley Ramirez will be the designated hitter and bat fourth, while Brock Holt returns to the lineup at third base and bats second.
As a result, Jackie Bradley Jr. will slide over to Ramirez’s spot in left field and bat eighth. Rusney Castillo also will return to the lineup, taking Bradley’s spot in right and batting sixth. Josh Rutledge will take Holt’s place at second base and bat ninth, while Blake Swihart will return to the backstop after three days off and bat seventh.
Rick Porcello will make his return from the disabled list after winning just five starts from April though the end of July. Porcello hit the DL after his July 29 start, during which he allowed 10 hits and six runs (five earned) over just two innings. That start coincidentally came against the White Sox.
