Josh Boyce Among Five Released By Patriots; Roster Now At 79 Players
FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots reduced their roster one day early.
The team released tight end Jimmay Mundine, linebacker Dekoda Watson, defensive tackle Joe Vellano and wide receivers Josh Boyce and Jonathan Krause on Monday. Mundine, Vellano, Boyce and Krause are subject to waivers.
The five cuts bring the Patriots’ roster to 79 players. The team must reach 75 players before Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. The Patriots must cut their roster to 53 players by Saturday at 4 p.m.
Watson, Vellano and Boyce didn’t dress for Friday night’s preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, while Mundine was in uniform but didn’t play. Krause caught two passes for 14 yards before leaving the field with an apparent injury.
The Patriots play their final preseason game against the New York Giants on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
