Patriots Training Camp Attendance: Tom Brady Absent Before Joint Practices
FOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady was conspicuously absent from New England Patriots training camp Tuesday.
It’s unclear why Brady missed practice, but there is another settlement conference regarding the Patriots quarterback’s four-game suspension appeal scheduled with U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman on Wednesday. Brady missed practice last Tuesday in preparation for last Wednesday’s settlement conference.
Brady isn’t required to be at this week’s meeting with Berman.
Wide receiver Brandon LaFell; cornerback Darryl Roberts; linebacker L.J. Fort; offensive linemen Ryan Wendell and Josh Kline; defensive linemen Rufus Johnson, Joe Vellano, Trey Jackson and Chris Jones, and tight end Jake Bequette also were absent.
Wide receiver Aaron Dobson, offensive linemen Bryan Stork and Caylin Hauptmann, tight end Scott Chandler, running back Travaris Cadet, and linebackers Eric Martin and Dane Fletcher worked on the lower practice field doing conditioning while the rest of the team went through an unpadded walk-through on the main field.
Wide receiver Julian Edelman spent the first half of practice with the rest of the team, then spent the end of the session working separately on conditioning.
The Patriots travel to Wes Virginia on Tuesday afternoon in preparation for joint practices with the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday and Thursday. The Patriots and Saints play Saturday in New Orleans in the teams’ second preseason game.
