Report: LeBron James, Stephen Curry Headline NBA’s Christmas Day Schedule

The headliner of the NBA’s slate of Christmas Day games reportedly will be an obvious one.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors will square off Dec. 25 in a rematch of last season’s NBA Finals, ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reported Thursday, citing league sources.

The Warriors, of course, emerged victorious in that series, ending a 40-year championship drought and foiling LeBron James’ pursuit of a third NBA title in four years.

Stein clarified that the matchup is not set in stone, as the NBA is not expected to announce its official 2015-16 schedule until next week. It’s the second Christmas Day pairing to leak, however, as the Miami Herald reported Wednesday the Heat and New Orleans Pelicans will face off that day, as well.

Should that report prove accurate, it would be the Heat’s seventh consecutive Christmas Day game. The Pelicans, meanwhile, have played on Christmas just once: in 2008, when they were known as the New Orleans Hornets.
