David Ortiz had a lot to be proud of last week.

The Boston Red Sox designated hitter went down in history Saturday when he hit his 499th and 500th career home runs in a 10-4 win against the Tampa Bay Rays. Unsurprisingly, Ortiz also was named Major League Baseball’s American League Player of the Week.

Besides joining the 500 club, Big Papi also led the league in slugging percentage (1.111) and led the AL in total bases (20) in five outings during the week of Sept. 7 to 13. Ortiz also finished second in batting average (.444), on-base percentage (.545) and RBIs (9) in the league, and his three homers were good for a second place tie in the AL.

It’s the first time Ortiz has been named AL Player of the Week since the week of May 30 in 2011.

Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts also got an honorable mention for his big week.
