Sources: Cameron Fleming Replacing Xzavier Dickson On Patriots Practice Squad

The New England Patriots decided a 2014 fourth-round draft pick was worth keeping around more than a 2015 seventh-rounder.

The Patriots released linebacker Xzavier Dickson from their practice squad to sign offensive lineman Cameron Fleming, according to multiple sources. Dickson was cut from the Patriots’ roster Saturday and signed to the practice squad Sunday.

Fleming was cut from the Patriots’ 53-man roster Sunday when the team claimed defensive tackle Khyri Thornton from the Green Bay Packers.

Fleming was drafted No. 140 overall in 2014 out of Stanford. He played in seven games, starting two last season.

Dickson was drafted No. 253 overall in this year’s draft out of Alabama. He had 14 tackles in the Patriots’ four preseason games.

Fleming joins wide receivers Kenbrell Thompkins and Nathan Palmer, tight end Asante Cleveland, offensive linemen Chris Barker and Blaine Claussell, defensive lineman Jimmy Staten, linebackers Brandon King and Darius Fleming and cornerback Daxton Swanson on the Patriots’ practice squad.
